Monaco vs Guingamp by GlacialSpirit
Monaco tried to keep pace with champions PSG in the first half of last season but in the second half they fell behind and in the end even finished third behind Lyon. Manager Leonardo Jardim will be eager to make a better season. Monaco spent over 30m in transfers bringing right back Djibril Sidibe, centre back Kamil Glik, and left back Benjamin Mendy. Also huge boost overall will be the return of Radamel Falcao although it is expected that he will miss the game. The ones that left the club are Coentrao as his loan expired along with Helder Costa and Mario Pasalic. Jeremy Toulalan also left the club joining Bordeaux. A problem for Jardim may also prove to be the absence of Morgan De Sanctis who will also miss the game.
Guingamp finished 16th last season 5 points clear above the relegation zone. This season they will probably hope for the same as they were left by some key players. Midfielder Younousse Sankhare left the club along with their goalkeeper Jonas Lossl and striker Mevlut Erdinc whose loan deal expired. The new signings include defensive midfielder Etienne Didot and right bak Jordan Ikoko. Head coach Antoine Kombouare should be prepared for long and tough season battleing for his place in this league.
Monaco won 3 out of their last 5 games against Guingamp losing and drawing the other 2. All of the 3 wins came with Monaco hosting the game with Monaco scoring on average 2 goals in them. Last season both games featured a lot of goals with Monaco winning home 3-2 and drawing the other game 3-3. Monaco are favourites for this game and to spice things up a bit I’m combining it with over 2.5 goals.
