Montana vs Lokomotiv Plovdiv by GlacialSpirit

Montana
VS
Lokomotiv-Plovdiv
It’s time for the opening game of the third round of the Bulgarian First League. Montana hosts Lokomotiv Plovdiv in Municipality Stadium in Lovech as their home stadium did not receive license for this season.

Montana hosts this game just on paper. They play in Lovech thus making their home advantage minimal. Montana won only one point from their first two games after a goalless draw first round against Levski and a 1-0 loss to Cherno More Varna in the second round despite playing about 30mins with player advantage after Cherno More player Palankov got sent off. Head coach Stevica Kuzmanovski prefers to keep his team playing tight at the back. Montana defends deep without much pressing and waits for chances on the counter. After the dismissal of Palankov against Cherno More they showed that they are able to attack but failed to score. Former Bulgarian Champion with Ludogorets Choco played very well against Cherno More along with Marquinos a Brazilian born who has played several matches for the Bulgarian National Team. Anything interesting in terms of attack is expected to happen involving them.

Lokomotiv Plovdiv started this season with 2 derbies. First round they got only one point after Ivan Soyanov equalized for Botev in the city of Plovdiv derby late in the second half. The second game they played against last season runner-up Levski making a very entertaining game to watch finishing with a 2-2 draw. Ambitious head coach Ilian Iliev will be determined to get his first 3 points this season. He is not expected to make changes from last game. Veteran target man Martin Kamburov will lead the line once more his efforts supported by wingers Veselin Marchev and Simeon Raykov. Former international Kiril Kotev along with Dimitar Vezalov and goalkeeper Ilko Pirgov are set to provide stability at the back.

Lokomotiv has won 6 out of their last 8 games against this opposition losing and are in a streak of 3 straight wins against Montana. They lost last year in Bulgarian Cup on penalties though after finishing 1-1 in the 90 mins. Last 5 games also finished with less than 2.5 goals. I expect Loko Plovdiv to dominate the game from the first whistle while Montana will try to keep hold of the draw. My bet here is Lokomotiv Plovdiv DNB as I fear they may struggle to break through Montana defensive line.
