Fister (7-3, 3.26 ERA) has been stellar recently allowing just 3 runs in last 3 games with 1.40 ERA (19.1 innings pitched). He's really only had one bad outing this year, way back on April 14th and currently in unbeaten on last 9 starts. He faced The Angels earlier this season where he gave up just one earned run in six innings pitched.
Jhoulys Chacin (3-4, 5.00 ERA) struggled since monster performance against Tigers on May 30. He has yet to last more than 5.1 innings over his last 3 games and in those 3 games (15.1 innings pitched) he has allowed 12 ER (7.04 ERA).
Andrelton Simmons is back after injury and ironically it’s a bad news for Angel’s fans as hottest hitter in the month of June, Gregorio Petit (.435 OBP and eight extra base hits in his last 16 games), has been relegated to the bench.
With the way both these pitchers have been throwing lately I think Astros shouldn’t have a lot of problems in series opener (on paper).
