Kansas vs Detroit by bOdyssey
Royals are surging having won 9 of last 10. Royals are damn good at home: 23-8 and hitting .283/.335/.435.
Edinson Volquez (6-6, 3.90 ERA) has already faced The Tigers this season and stifled opponents for seven shutout innings, giving his Royals a 4-0 win. Volquez has a 4.20 ERA and 4.37 FIP in nine starts since May 1, numbers nearly identical to his career rates. But he was superb in his last outing as he gave up just two hits in seven scoreless innings while defeating Cleveland. He has been very sharp at home (as whole roster is), going 4-2 with a 2.06 ERA and 1.11 WHIP in eight outings.
Matt Boyd (0-1, 4.91 ERA) will start for Tigers. Royals roster faced him 3 times already and tagged him for nine runs on 16 hits in last two meetings. In last start Boyd allowed six runs and seven hits over 4 1/3 innings against struggling White Sox. He has struggled against right-handed hitters while Royals are very good against left-handed starters: .273/.322/.417. Boyd also is terrible away from home with 0-3 and 10.50 ERA.
No matter what set of statistical splits you choose to look at, this matchup doesn't bode well for Matt Boyd and Tigers. So expect The Royals take another win here.
