Italy vs Sweden by Cobbyj

Two nights have passed since Italy's 2-0 shock win over Belgium in Monday's Group E opener, and I think people are still struggling to understand how it happened.

The Italians came into the game as true underdogs. Conte's squad selection had caused a lots of controversy, and injuries had stolen the two best midfielders in Claudio Marchisio and Marco Verratti that they had. The Belgians were expected to make a huge statement and I think Bookies everywhere were probably left laughing at the money they made.

Is this history repeating itself though? At the 2014 World Cup, they looked fantastic in their opening match against England before the wheels fell off and they lost the final two by twin 1-0 scorelines, crashing out for the second straight World Cup competition.

This is a sticky walking on egg shell moment for the Italians now. The biggest match of the group is now done. The potential for a mind-set drop-off in the remaining group games against Sweden and the Republic of Ireland is definitely there.

I feel though that the way the manager has them set up and playing as a team, as long as their minds are in the right place, they could win this match.
