Chicago White Sox vs Detroit by 3Lions

James Shields (Chicago White Sox) gets his second start, after coming from San Diego Padres about a week ago. His first game ended with seven runs against before being substituted. His career as pitcher in San Diego Padres was not much of a blast either, and the whole season has been devestating with 2-8, 5.06 in ERA and 29-59 in walks-strikeouts. Matt Boyd (Detroit Tigers) seems to be a little bit better with 0-1, 3.38 in ERA and 9-17 in walks-strikeouts, be the last games have been weak. Anyhow, I think there is a slight advantage for Detroit Tigers, since Shields is starting for White Sox.

Chicago White Sox had a unbelievable start at the season, but got back to reality pretty quick. Worst of all is the stats in their own division (AL Central) with 11 loss in the last 12 games. Among these, three loss against Detroit Tigers, where the match about a week ago was a disaster. The difference in form of the two teams are quite extreme at the moment and as mentioned, Shields is out of form.

Detroit Tigers’ recent form is rising and Boyd has done quite good in the few past games. Ian Kinsler (Tigers) has been outstanding and Tigers are a slightly better team than White Sox, maybe even more than what the results are saying.

White Sox are still searching for a line-up that works, but have rotated once again. Anderson has been placed as leadoff, having just been given a shot on the team. The situation in the club are out of controll, all though they are starting with eight right hand batters, it will not make much of a difference for Detroit Tigers and Boyd. The line-up at Tigers are looking to be the real deal for Shields, with many good hitters who might score many runs.

Usually it is not a good idea to trust the statistics, but having seen Shields’ performance in the last game, I think it would be pretty safe in this one. I am seeing Detroit Tigers as favourites here.
