England vs Wales by FP

It was typical England to concede a 92nd minute equaliser to only draw 1-1 against Russia in a game they should have won. England did not press on once they took the lead despite the opportunity being there for the taking – in my opinion Roy Hodgson should have sent on Jamie Vardy as it was obvious that the Russia defence was tiring and vulnerable to a bit of pace. Vardy would have made the runs behind the back line and caused all sorts of problems – one more goal and England would have had it won at 2-0. As it was, Hodgson makes negative substitutions in sending on Milner for their only pacy player Raheem Sterling and paid the price for not having an attacking outlet. Harry Kane did well as a hold up player, but needs someone alongside him to knock the ball down to.

At the time of writing this preview it is not clear if Hodgson will keep the same team in the 4-1-2-2-1 formation or move to a 4-4-2 with a midfield diamond. Personally I would go with the 4-4-2 against the Wales back line as they will be vulnerable to crosses into the box, and are more likely to cope if their defence can double up on Harry Kane and cancel out England’s attacking outlet. Sturridge would be a good choice against the Wales back line due to the type of runs he makes and his style of play. I would move to 4-4-2 and move Rooney up top with Sturridge, with both Kane and Vardy warming the bench, but we know England – they never learn and tend not to mix up their style at the major tournaments which leaves them quite predictable to play against.

Wales had the dream start to their tournament in securing a 2-1 win over Slovakia, with talisman Gareth Bale and relatively unknown Robson-Kanu among the goals to leave them top of the group after one game. First choice goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey is hoping to return for the England game after missing the Slovakia game with a back injury, and boss Chris Coleman will reinstate him if fit.

Wales would secure a place in the last 16 if they can beat England in this game, but they have not beaten England since 1984. I believe that the Wales team overall is weaker than the England team, and is too heavily reliant on Gareth Bale. England will surely score at least one or two here as I cannot see Wales holding out, and I am not sure if Wales have the ability to score against England. The gap in ability between the England national team and the Wales national team is narrowing quickly, but the gap in ability is still there. England will not be cautious against players they know very well – most of the Wales team play in the English leagues, so I expect them to play attacking football throughout and hopefully (for the sake of this bet) get an early goal.

-1,5 worth to try

-1.5 doesn't look a bad bet Mike I agree, I have had my fingers burnt quite a few times on handicap bets though so have to keep it simple and stick to backing them just to win.
Whenever I back -1 / -1.5 they seem to win by just one goal! Good luck if you back it.

I wish England to win as I bet on them to win the group but I am really afraid about this one. Wales is not that bad at all. They seem more of a team than many higher ranking countries.
Let's hope they win. Fingers crossed.

why do u all think England will win this game easily? England struggled a lot against a very weak Russian team? Wales played a good game vs Slovakia (who beat russia 2-1) i read people recommends England -1, -1.5, how do u guys find value in these bets?! Why England should go ahead crushing a well playing Wales? I think it will be a tight game, and if we have a winner I think it will be by 1 goal. At the current market, btts and Wales +1.25 seems as fair picks. But there are still some uncertainty about e English line up.

Just some advices, it seems as u guys going blind on this game

England won't get this one, they're making serious mistakes in the back and will get punished again tomorrow imho.

im thinking betting on both teams to score. high odds on that one, and not very unlikely imo

TBH, England played well in the 1st game. Should have won by at least 2-3 goals if not for the Russian gk. The only mistake they played was defending after scoring a goal instead of going for the 2nd goal.

Wales beat Slovakia but should we overestimate them just because of that? They scored from a free kick goal and the 2nd goal was pretty much against the run of play. Slovakia was all over them after their equaliser.

the reason that england should be superb in todays game is that all players are mostly from Eng. premier and in the game should be much more transition and high tempo where england should dominate and have better individuals and bench. But if Hoghson stars again with lalana walker and and without Vardy ,Henderson or Wilshire Wales have the chance of course becouse poor midfield of england ...probably safe bet would be england to score over 1.5
