England vs Russia by Ashjkc

This match has been tagged as one of the Euro games which could lead to most violence in this competition. This game will also be highlighted as the 3 lions big test at this stage of the competition. Why? England have won their opening group game just once in their past seven tournaments -- the 1-0 victory over Paraguay at the 2006 World Cup, bad statistics, right?

However, this England squad is one of the best I've seen (at least on paper), with 5 Liverpool players in list; but I expect a solid 4-3-3 here with a very strong lineup:

Hart (GK) Walker (D) Smalling (D) Cahill (D) D. Rose (D) Dier (M) Rooney (M) Dele Alli (M) Lallana (F) Kane (F) Sterling (F)

Rooney in midfield will propose a strong control of the ball, alongside Dele Alli. Dier is a very strong pivot to control the link between the defense and attack, and is expected to help set the tempo alongside the other 2 midfielders. England also has a strong and mixed-experience substitute list to rely on: LFC captain Henderson, Sturridge, Attack minded Clyne, EPL Champion talisman Vardy and even Arsenal's Wilshere. So many proven players are going on action tonight and it is difficult to see how Russia's players are going to sustain such a pressure here

Russia has a shocking 8 players out of 11 players from CSKA, and CSKA's tactics are not famous in Europe. Russia has been successful in the past with the help of its midfield. However, .the trio that was so successful in the autumn and helped Leonid Slutsky's team qualify is no longer relevant: Alan Dzagoev and Igor Denisov are out injured, leaving the team without a single decent defensive midfielder, while captain Roman Shirokov is out of form. The friendlies were hugely disappointing, so the coach is uncertain as to what is his best lineup ahead of his toughest group stage test. The veteran Russian defence -- centre-back pairing Sergei Ignashevich and Vasili Berezutski have a combined age of ....hmm.....69. That surely won't help against Kane et al.

I also expect a control of the midfield if Hogson lines up Chris Smalling and Gary Cahill to deal with Russia’s big striker Artem Dzyuba. However, I don't back England clean sheet. But this one is difficult not to take- England to win full time, offered by WIlliamhill at 1.91
