Pliskova vs Barty by Cobbyj
The Queenslander marked up a confidence boosting win over Peng Shuai from China in the first round at the Nottingham Tournement. You have to give her credit, as she's come back from a sabbatical of 18 months, where she changed to Cricket, which unfortunately put a dent in her world tennis ranking which has slumped to 623.
Even though the slump in rankings,, the 20 year old, who was a junior Wimbledon champion, proved to be much stronger than Peng, who is ranked over 350 places above her. Barty sent her packing in two straight sets winning 6-3 & 6-2 in just under an hour and 10 minutes.
It hasn’t been the best season, for the world number 17 so far. Karolina had a great year in 2015, although her big tournament results continue to drag behind those in WTA Tour events. This was something she talked about earlier this week
Grass is a great surface for Pliskova, however. Karolina does find it hard to get low to the ball.
Even with the shock comeback of Barty, I do think that Karolina will still secure victory today, so I'm going for a straight win for Pliskova at 1.44 / 1 at bet365
