USA vs Japan by MagicRat
The Japanese women's team must have night mares about the USA team having been dismantled in the first half of last year's World Cup final and in a friendly on Friday they threw away a 2-0 lead, eventually leading to a 3-3 draw.
The game did go some way to overcoming the demons from last year's final as Japan raced into a 2-0 lead within the first 22 minutes. Japan were 2-1 up when they went down to 10 players and then they found themselves 3-2 down in the 89th minute but they showed enough character to score an equaliser with 10 women in injury time.
Four of the goals in the game from crosses from wide areas with all three of the USA's doing so, therefore this could be an area that both teams but the USA in particular look to exploit again in tonight's game.
Japan hadn't been in the best form before Friday's game after suffering losses to Australia and a home defeat against China earlier in the year but Friday's dogged performance will give them confidence. Furthermore, the USA are notoriously tough to score against having only conceded in one of their 11 matches in 2016 prior to Friday's game and that came against Germany. Japan, however, seem to have the ability to get at the USA like most other teams can't or don't as Japan have scored five goals in total when combining the World Cup final and Friday's game and they have found the net in their last six matches against the USA.
All of this leads me to believe that we could see another game with a few goals, therefore I'm going to go for over 3.5 goals at 2.70 with Unibet, especially considering no other bookmaker goes above 2.50 with some going as low as 2.25-2.30.
