Poland vs Northern Ireland by FP

Poland are one of the dark horses for Euro 2016. They should get out of their group alongside world champions Germany, and were the top scoring nation in qualifying.

Many of Poland's goals are scored by their talisman Robert Lewandowski who contributed 13 to their total of 33, but Poland are far from a one man team. Ajax striker Milik got among the goals in qualifying with 5 goals, and Sevilla midfielder Krychowiak is very under rated and would be a great addition to any higher profile team looking for a reliable hardworking player in the summer. Poland are strong down the right hand side with the combination of Piszczek and Blaszczykowski and although few of the other players making up the 23 man are household names they still have a reliable and hardworking squad.

Northern Ireland did very well to reach this stage but I have to say they look to be out of their depth in this group and will do well to avoid three defeats. Manager Michael O'Neill had a limited pool of players to choose from and although he does have a handful of Premier League class players his players typically play in the lower standard UK leagues such as Scotland, The English Championship and League One. Are Lewandowski and company likely to be kept quiet by an MK Dons right back or a Doncaster Rovers centre back for example? Unlikely isn't it.

Things are getting better for Northern Ireland despite my negative thoughts around their chances of progressing through the group stage. They have reached their first major finals since the 1986 World Cup by actually winning their group and are up to an all time high in the FIFA World Rankings. This is also the first time that Northern Ireland have ever qualified for the finals of the Euros.

Poland will have to defend well at set plays - Northern Ireland scored a European high of nine goals from set pieces during qualifying, but their superior attacking talent should see them begin the tournament with a win. Back Poland just to win the game @ 1.72

Great bet and preview!

Do you see a Poland winning with more than just one goal?
