Belgium vs Finland by Gilles

Int. friendly with Belgium hosting Finland at King Baudouin Stadium, Brussels.

Its the first game in 2016 for Belgian home fans, terrorist attacks at Brussels in March caused Belgium-Spain was cancelled and Belgium-Portugal was moved to Portugal. Vertonghen says he wants the fans to celebrate and not to think at possible danger. Belgium coach Wilmots announced the Belgium team is gone play again 4-3-3 (instead of 4-2-3-1), with 1 defensive midfielder (Witsel). Wilmots says the team needs one man more in attack, and adds that De Bruyne knows when to come down (as seen in second half against Switzerland). Carrasco, Dembélé, Nainggolan and Meunier are out. Kabasele (defender, Genk) replaces Lombaerts (Zenit) and will probably get some minutes becos he has no international experience at all and he will join Belgium selection at Euro 2016 (on Sunday Belgium plays their last friendly before Euro 2016 against Norway). Origi probably will get his chance to start instead of Mertens and Lukaku will probably start again as striker.

Possible lineup Belgium: Courtois, Alderweireld, Denayer, Vermaelen, Vertonghen, Witsel, Fellaini, De Bruyne, Hazard, Lukaku, Origi

I have not much information on Finland. Finnish 'star' Eremenko (CSKA) will play against Witsel (Zenit), they know each other from the Russian league. Coach Hacke says he gone play with 3 central defenders and the wingers will not stand high.

The record from Belgium against Finland is not promising, but its a different Belgium team now then in 2010/2011. Finland is pretty good at defense, they only concede 10 goals in Euro qualification games, but in friendlies in 2016 they concede at least 2 goals in away games (5-0 at Poland, 2-0 at Norway and 3-0 at Sweden, Euro 2016 qualified Poland and Sweden could score in both halves).

I think Belgium will score in both halves. Belgium will play very attacking tonight with 4-3-3 and its a friendly match so the players know they might be replaced sooner or later (Mertens for Origi, Benteke or Batshuayi for Lukaku,...). Wilmots want to see more Hazard and more 'grinta' (italian for ~ grit, bravery, perseverance). Striker (Lukaku) knows 2 other strikers (Benteke, Batshuayi) are on the bench to replace him.
