Sousa vs Gulbis by Igrok

French Open, 2. round, clay

Sousa (29) will play against Gulbis (80)

Sousa is 9/7 on clay this season, he recently reached a quarterfinal in Madrid where he was able to steal a set to Nadal and a semifinal in Nice where he lost in 3 sets against the young gun Zverev.

Gulbis is 5/5 on clay and his best result is a R2 reached in Rome where he lost against Pouille. Even Seppi who is not 100 fit was able to win 1 set in R1. He has not yet won back-to-back matches in the main draw of any tournament and I can’t fully trust him.

Gulbis has dominated their previous matches, which were played on hard back in 2014 where he was in a different shape.

How confident are you of a Sousa win?

Quite confident because he doesn't seem too fit...this is also what he said “I need to be able to practice to get a lot of hours on the court, without that… every player is different but I need to get hours on the court, fitness doesn’t help me, I need the hours on court.”

the statement is obviously referring to Gulbis

Aleks the great
I dont think you couldcould be confident about this match. Sousa is in bad form and gulbis is a big server whoch could trouble anyone on their day. Id call it a 50-50 game

As I said in my blog Gulbis is in good form, getting better day by day and so far he proves it. I watch the match live now and I don't think that Sousa can turn it around. Only if Gulbis decides that he wants to lose!

Also odds dropped from 1.80 to 1.57. Very strange. Smart money could not have bet this heavily on Sousa.
Anyway ...we'll see.

reguLator please tell me what is your blog? You are posting match analysis there? Regards!

I decided to start my blog and post my picks. Though if you are looking for analysis I don't have for most of the matches as they are live bets (80% of my picks). You have to look elsewhere for now.

For some picks and if I have the time to write something I do.
I am a heavy punter and I have to watch matches all the time to have better idea.
Maybe in the future I will post analysis as well for all my choices.
But analysis is overrated. What I or anyone else have in their mind is not easy to transfer to people with few words.
