Pumas vs Independiente by MagicRat
Pumas come into this game with Independiente del Valle having to claw back a 2-1 deficit after the first leg, however, I believe they are more than capable of doing that with room to spare.
Independiente de Valle will be confident after a 3-0 win at the weekend in the league but their poor away form will be cause for concern for them. They have struggled away from home in both the league and the Copa Libertadores. Couple this with Pumas very good home record and it doesn't look good for Independiente del Valle..
Pumas have lost just two matches at home in all competitions in 2016 and this run includes 13 matches and in eight of those they have scored two or more goals. In six of those eight they have scored three or more goals and in four of them they have managed to score four goals. Crucially, three of the four matches where they have scored four goals have come in the Copa Libertadores. One reason for this could be the distance that many of the teams in the competition have to travel to get to Mexico and Independiente del Valle will have the same problem.
Aside from having to deal with this they are poor away from home. In 11 away matches in 2016 they have only scored five goals and in seven matches they have failed to score, including failing to score in six of their last seven away matches in all competitions.
They have a lead to protect, so I can see them attempting to defend for the most part but a goal in the first 30 minutes or so from Pumas could well lead to more pressure from Pumas and given their scoring power and Independiente's struggles on the road I can see Pumas winning by a comfortable margin.
