The Pittsburgh Pirates, who seek their sixth win in eight games, will send Juan Nicasio (4-3 with a 4.46 ERA) to the mound for the finale of their three-game series with the Colorado Rockies at PNC Park.

The right-hander went 3-2 with a 3.33 ERA in his first five starts this year, but had obvious problems in the last three, posting a 6.46 ERA in those three contests.Nicasio gave up 8 hits and 5 runs (three earned), while walking two and striking out six over five innings in Tuesday’s 12-9 win at Atlanta.

On the other hand, he’s posted a 2.70 ERA in one start and five relief appearances against the Rockies (all last season), allowing 7 hits and 2 runs over 6 2/3 innings, with ten strikeouts.

Daniel Descalso is hitting .667 (4-for-6), with a triple and 3 RBI off Nicasio, Gerardo Parra is 4-for-14, with four doubles, an RBI and two walks, but Nolan Arenado and DJ LeMahieu are a combined 2-for-8.

The Colorado Rockies, who seek their first series win against the Pirates since 2014, will counter with Chad Bettis (4-2 with a 4.18 ERA).The 27-year-old right-hander is coming off one of his best starts this season, allowing 5 hits and 1 run over 6 2/3 innings of a 3-1 win at St. Louis last Tuesday.

On the other hand, he’s allowed at least four earned runs in three of his previous four starts, including 4 runs on 6 hits in 6 2/3 innings of a 1-6 loss to Pittsburgh at Coors Field on April 25.

Bettis posted a 4.25 ERA in his previous six road contests this year and is 0-2 with a 5.40 ERA in three starts and two relief appearances against the Pirates.

Andrew McCutchen will return to the starting lineup after missing Saturday’s 1-5 loss.McCutchen is 3-for-6 with an RBI off Bettis.

Starling Marte is hitting .667 (4-for-6), with an RBI against him, Chris Steward has 2 hits in 3 at-bats off Bettis, Matt Joyce is 2-for-5 with a solo home run, David Freese is 2-for-6, with a double and an RBI, while Josh Harrison is 2-for-6 with a double in the matchup.

The Pittsburgh Pirates were limited to 3 runs on 17 hits in the previous two games of this series on Friday (2-1) and Saturday (1-5), but have .281 BA, with 42 runs and 9 HR from the previous eight (5-3).

I think that Pittsburgh will manage to win the final game of this series with at least two runs difference.
