Geneva, round of 16, clay

Kuznetsov (40) will play against Johnson (35)

Kuznetsov is a clay court player while Johnson is horrible on red court. He reached the quarterfinal in Barcelona and 2R in Madrid before winning R1against Sela in straight sets here in Geneva.

Johnson is only 1/3 on clay this season and basically always lost in R1 in every tournament played, even to players ranked below him like Young in Houston. The ace ratio on clay in the last 52 weeks is only 7.2%, which obviously will be less effective on slow surface compared to hard (13.8%) and grass (13.3%).

Kuznetsov’s dominance ratio on clay is 1.23 compared to only 0.95 of the American.

I am afraid of this one. Johnson can be so unpredictable. This year he lost to J.Monaco and Dolgopolov. Monaco is a well known clay player. Up class. Same for Dolgopolov.

Johnson won against Youzhny last match and he may find will to fight for this one as well. I stay away from this match.

Hi,

@teddy 2-0 is also fine in my opinion. Regarding the handicap, in simple words add (to Johnson) or subtract (to Kuznetzov) the 2.5 games and you will see if the players covered the handicap. So, if Kuznetzov wins 6-4,5-7,6-2 the total games won for him is 17 while Johnson won in total 13+2.5 games handicap 15.5 so Kuznetzov covered and the bet is won.

@reguLator, yes it could be but I rate Kuznetzov much better on clay and in my opinion can go very far in this tournament.
