Boston vs Houston Astros by Sors

Houston-Astros
The Boston Red Sox ended their five-game winning streak with a 6-7 loss in the second game of this series yesterday, though more important for my bet is that their offense stays hot, as the Red Sox have scored five or more runs in sixth consecutive games and have .357 BA, with 62 runs and 15 HR over that span.

Boston will face Collin McHugh (4-3 with a 5.50 ERA), who threw seven solid innings in his last start, in which the right-hander yielded 1 run on 5 hits and struck out five batters in a 5-1 win against the Mariners on May 8.

On the other hand, McHugh surrendered four or more earned runs in four of his previous seven starts this year, including 10 hits and 5 runs in four innings of a 2-6 loss against the Red Sox on April 22.

The 28-year-old right-hander lasted less than six innings in five of those seven outings, posting a 5.30 ERA in his last eleven road contests.

McHugh has held David Ortiz hitless in 9 at-bats in their matchups, but Mookie Betts is 4-for-5, with two doubles, triple, 3 RBI and a walk off him, Jackie Bradley Jr. is 3-for-4, with a double and a walk, Xander Bogaerts is hitting .455 (5-for-11), with two doubles, 4 RBI and a walk against McHugh, Brock Holt is 4-for-10, with an RBI and two walks, Hanley Ramirez has 2 hits in 6 at-bats, with an RBI and a walk, while Dustin Pedroia is 2-for-7, with a double and 2 RBI.

Boston gives the ball to Clay Buchholz (2-3 with a 5.90 ERA), who has obvious problems at the start of the new season, as the right-hander has allowed four or more runs in five of his previous seven starts, including 6 hits and 5 runs, despite striking out six over 5 2/3 innings of a 3-8 loss at Minute Maid Park on April 23.He’s posted a 5.48 ERA in his previous four starts at Fenway Park this year.

Jose Altuve (3-for-19) and Carlos Correa (1-for-6) have struggled against him, but Luis Valbuena is 4-for-13, with a homer, 2 RBI and a walk, George Springer has 2 hits in 6 at-bats off Buchholz, Jason Castro is 3-for-10, with 2 RBI and a walk, Marwin Gonzalez is 3-for-12 with a double, while Colby Rasmus is hitting .148 (4-for-27) against Buchholz, but with a homer, 6 RBI and three walks.

The Houston Astros have scored five or more runs in seven of their last eleven games (7-4) and have .243 BA, with 58 runs and 12 HR during this stretch.

I expect more than nine runs in the third game of this series between the Boston Red Sox and Houston Astros.
