In Madrid both players Benoit Paire and Stan Wawrinka had early defeats in the past week and now want to refuel with confidence before the French Open. Although the Frenchman Paire won the last meeting a few weeks ago in the sunny desert of Indian Wells, the Swiss Wawrinka is by bookies a clear favorite. The current odds for the reigning French Open champion are about 1.25.

Although Wawrinka left two consecutive tennis courts as loser and currently only has a 2:2 record on clay in this calendar year, the performance against Nick Kyrgios was very good in my eyes. He was extremely dominant with his serve and Paire will give Stan much more chances as Nick. Paire has here on clay court no chance to force Wawrinka in the knee. Paire reached 2013 in Rome his biggest career success (semifinals) but still Stan leads significant 6:2 in H2H also won the only clay court duel. Wawrinka is looking for the top form before the French Open and he will beat Paire in AH -3.5...pin
