Real Madrid vs Man City by Aditya9920

Real-Madrid
VS
Man-City
With the expulsion from copa de rey and with La liga title certainly gone, Real Madrid have only champions league to win this season and with a comeback against Wolfsburg in the quarter finals after trailing 2-0 and winning 10 la liga matches in a row, they definitely go into the match as favourites. Real Madrid had a great last month, first winning the El Classico, winning all the la liga matches even with second string sides in few games. I strongly feel they Zidane had injected the fight till death attitude in the team and the recent victories - 3-2 away against Sociedad against trailing 2-0 in the first 15 mins, and the 80' min goal against Rayo gives you the perfect shape the team are in. The defence has improved vastly and they are yet too concede a goal at home in the champions league matches. The absentees are Benzema and Casemiro. It would be interesting to see whom Zidane would bring in the defensive midfield as Kroos and Modric are very well settled up front. Isco may be a choice but don't be surprised if Ramos takes that position and Varane as centre back.

Real Madrid possible starting lineup:

Navas; Carvajal, Pepe, Ramos/Varane, Marcelo; Modric, Ramos/Isco, Kroos; Bale, Jese/Lucas, Ronaldo

On the other hand, I feel Manchester city were toothless in the home league with the only shot on target coming at 90' from the free kick of KDB. A failure to get a goal at the Etihad is likely to come back to haunt them, given how strong the defence is right now at Madrid. I feel the onus would be mainly on KDB to create good space and pass it on to Aguero, their star play maker. Only David Silva will be unavailable to this match.

Man City possible starting lineup:

Hart; Sagna, Kompany, Otamendi, Clichy; Fernando, Fernandinho, Navas, Toure, De Bruyne; Aguero

Given the defence of Real Madrid and how the game spanned out at Etihad, I see Real keeping a clean sheet here. Even if Man City scores a goal, I strongly feel that Madrid will be abale to score two given the amount of possession they generally have at the Santiago. Expect Ronaldo to make a difference. I strongly feel Real would qualify with a margin of two goals.

All the best :)pin
