Laboral Kutxa vs Panathinaikos by Tullamore
After an awful performance at the opening game of the series, this time Panathinaikos will try to look Saski in the eyes. A "Hangaless" Saski will be more vulnerable, since Elliot Williams will find space to show off. Williams is the most dangerous player alongside with Miro Raduljica and coach Djordjevic is expecting much more from him, at this second game.
The Basques managed to beat Panathinaikos quite easily at the first clash, a thing that was kind of strange, if you ask me. Saski Baskonia is a team that counts on its athleticism and the up-tempo game. They love to run the open court and finish easy buckets. There's actually no real playmaker here, since James and Adams prefer to create situations for themselves rather than utilizing their teammates. Adam Hanga managed to slow Williams down, but his offensive game had a major impact too.
Now we are talking about a total different situation. Perasovic has to find a solution here, but it will be hard to stop Williams vertical drives to the rim. In addition, Panathinaikos is not so weak on defense as they seemed at the previous game. They can stay close to their opponents, run with them and limit their vision. Calathes was so disappointing... I mean that, ok he is not the player to count on, but he is quick with strong feet and i expect him to bring some energy on defense this time.
These teams are equal in my eyes. Panathinaikos will find more uncontested shots and it will have a better transition defense. I doubt that the hosts will find so many open shots here, as they did at the opening game. A better defensive performance by the Greek will give them the chance to stay focused and claim the victory till the end. I don't aggree with the odds and i feel that the Greens are strong underdogs here.
My call is Panathinaikos to cause some damage, so i pick them to score more than 75 points.
