Croatia’s coach has called eighteen players for this friendly match against Israel in Osijek - practically the main backbone of this team, with the exception of Ivan Rakitic, who is injured.

Croatia qualified for the upcoming European championship after strong performance in Group H, where this team finished with six wins, three draws and just one defeat from ten games (6-3-1 20/5) and lost just two points from five home games against Malta (2-0), Azerbaijan (6-0), Norway (5-1), Italy (1-1) and Bulgaria (3-0).

It’s not a surprise actually, given the fact that Ante Cacic can count on players like Danijel Subasic, Darijo Srna, Dejan Lovren, Mateo Kovacic, Ivan Perisic, Milan Badelj, Ivan Rakitic, Luka Modric, Nikola Kalinic, Mario Mandzukic, etc., who have a leading role in some of the best European clubs and is obvious that Croatia owns enough potential to play essential role in France this summer.

However, this is a friendly match and more important for my bet is that the Croats take seriously such games or at least the results from their friendly games over the last few years indicate such approach.

5-1-1 15/6 for Croatia from seven friendly games over the last two years, including a 3-1 win in the visit to Russia in the last of them on Nov. 17.

Israeli coach Alon Hazan has called 23 players for this match, the majority of them from the local league, plus Rami Gershon (def.) from Genk, Lior Refaelov (midf.) from Brugge, Beram Kayal (midf.) from Brighton, Almog Cohen (midf.) from Ingolstadt, Roi Kahat (midf.) from Austria Vienna, Tomer Hemed (forw.) from Brighton, Kenny Sayef (forw.) from Gent and Moanes Dabour (forw.) from Grasshopper.

The guests had a lot of problems during the entire 2015, having lost five of their last seven games in the qualifiers for the European championship against Wales (0-3/home), Belgium (0-1/home), Bosnia & Herzegovina (1-3/away), Andorra (4-0/home), Wales (0-0/away), Cyprus (1-2/home) and Belgium (1-3/away), Alon Hazan is interim head coach and will be replaced after this match and in addition to that, several players (Boris Klaiman, Ben Bitton, etc.) are expected to make their debut today.

This is a friendly match and motivation of the players won’t be on its highest level, but despite that, I think that Croatia will manage to win this match with more than one goal difference.
