Montreal vs Anaheim by Sors

The Montreal Canadiens look to avoid a third straight loss and fourth at Bell Centre after those against Minnesota Wild (1-4), Florida Panthers (1-4) and Calgary Flames on Sunday (1-4).

This, however, seems a pretty difficult task, not only because Montreal will face one of the top teams in the Western Conference, but mostly because the Canadiens are obviously far from their best shape in this moment, having recorded just three wins in ten games since the beginning of the month (3-6-1 19/34).

Montreal’s offense continues to struggle mightily, as the Canadiens were limited to one of fewer goals in four of their last five games. In the matter of fact, the defense is not doing much better, as the hosts conceded three or more goals in seven of their ten games this month.

Anaheim began a five-game road trip with a 3-2 overtime win against the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday, sixth for the Ducks in ten games in March (6-3-1) and seventh in the last ten games on the road (7-2-1).

The Ducks are chasing the Los Angeles Kings for the top spot in the Pacific Division and unlike their opponents, the guests have a lot less problems with injured players in this moment: Sami Vatanen (d / 9+28), Chris Stewart (w / 8+10), David Perron (w / 12+24) and Nate Thompson (c / 0+3) are out for Anaheim, while the Canadiens have almost endless list of injured players in Jeff Petry (d / 5+11), Mark Barberio (d / 2+8), Victor Bartley (d / 0+0), Daniel Carr (w / 5+3), Brendan Gallagher (w / 18+17), Sven Andrighetto (w / 6+7), Brian Flynn (c / 4+6) and Davis Desharnais (c / 9+17).

Mike Condon (17-22-6 with a 2.64 GAA and .904 SV%), who will start for Montreal, has gone 1-4-1 with a 2.97 ERA and .907 SV% in six start this month. The 25-year-old goalie conceded two goals in a 2-3 shootout loss in Anaheim on March 2 – his first start against the Ducks.

John Gibson (17-10-3 with a 2.07 GAA and .919 SV%), who will start for Anaheim, is 2-2-1 with a 1.92 GAA and .927 SV% in five starts in March and what is even more important: 2-0-0 with a 1.33 GAA and .969 SV% in two career starts versus Montreal.

I think that the Anaheim Ducks will manage to win that game.
