Allertova vs Kerber by Igrok

Indian Wells, 2. round, hard

Allertova (64) will play against Kerber (2)

Allertova is 6/4 on hard and she was very impressive against Cetkovska beating her in just 42 minutes. We need to add that Cetkovska didn’t play much in 2016 due to injury.

Kerber arrives in Indian Wells as the number two seed after a tremendous 2016 in which she won the AU Open against Serena Williams. Since then she is struggling a bit, in fact she went out in Doha in the 1R against Zheng. She said that she didn’t use to be number 2 and this created some new emotions, which prevented her to be focus. She also added that she took some time off and now she is ready to compete again.

This in my opinion will be a real test for the German because Allertova is starting to be more consistent. Last year she won against big names like Halep, Suarez-Navarro, this year she won against Svitolina and always fought in each match. Moreover, there will be a ‘learning’ period due to the fact this will be the first time these two players will compete each other on the WTA tour. Another reason for this bet is that Kerber usually struggles in 1R in almost every tournaments; in Brisbane she went to distance against Giorgi, in Sydney against Svitolina, in AU Open against Doi.
