Donskoy vs Carreno-Busta by Igrok

Indian Wells, 1. round, hard

Donskoy (81) will play against Carreno-Busta (52).

Donskoy is 3/3 on hard this year, the best result was a quarterfinal in Canberra challenger where he lost against Lorenzi. Before this tournament he lost in Chennai in 1R against Millman and then after Chennai and Canberra he lost in 2R against Simon in AU open. He recently played Indoors in Poland where he lost in quarterfinal against Kravchuk. In California he played twice, in 2013 where he reached 2R but lost in 3 sets against Murray and 2014 where he reached 3R but lost against Anderson again in 3 sets.

Carreno-Busta is mainly a clay court player, this year on hard he always went out in 1R, against Nadal in Doha and Kyrgios in AU Open in straight sets. He recently had a very good run in Sao Paulo where he reached the final but lost against Cuevas in 2 sets. In this tournament he went out in 1R all the time, 2014 against Lorenzi and 2015 against Young.

Head-to-head: 2 - 0 for Donskoy who actually won on clay but these were back in 2012 and 2014.

In my opinion Donskoy can cause an upset here.
