Midtjylland vs Copenhagen by Mudhara_9er
Midtjylland trail Copenhagen by 6 points and sit 3rd in the League 3 points behind Aalborg with a game in hand. They will be hoping to put on a better performance then they managed in Monday nights 1-1 draw against Aalborg. The hosts never looked threatening and it took a debatable penalty for them to take the lead in the first half after a rather clumsy and reckless challenge occurred outside the box but Onuacho fell into the 18 area and the ref pointed to the spot. This was responded in the 2nd half by full frontal attack from Aab which lead to the equaliser, but with a little more accuracy could have given them the lead.
The match was played at a high tempo with many tough challenges and a lot of fight, though the finishing product was missing. FCM did manage to hit the crossbar late in the match, a chance that came out of the blue, but new signee Kadlec failed to get the right connection in what should have been a goal.
Copenhagen hosted Esbjerg and though it wasn't fluent it was a win never I real danger. Copenhagen won 2-1 with both strickers Santander and Jørgensen scoring.
Based on the sides recent form, my scale will be tipping to a Copenhagen win but Midtjylland at home is never easy, one thing for certain is that this match is one neither side want to lose and could end in a draw, similar to the last time these two faced off.
With this pretty difficult to call I find value in total corners. Copenhagen use alot of wing play, with their backs overlapping at every opportunity they get, then bombarding the area with crossers looking for their 2 big center forwards, clearly illustrated by their two goals against Esbjerg and basically their primary weapon in attack.
Midtjylland play a similar way but they try to cut into the pitch via Sisto or Hasan primarily, but in either Pusic or Onuacho have center forwards capable of getting physical with the oppositions defence, this is something Manchester United felt in the 1st leg of the Euro League. They are also well known for scoring off set pieces, so they focus on winning them in dangerous positions.
The last 3 h2h matches played in Herning have all produced more then 8 corners. I expect this match to be very physical and tight in the middle of the park, that's why wing play will be key to creating chances. Both sides have new Center Backs so both will attempt to unnerve their opponents new partnerships in these positions.
