Both teams fighted for the play-off spots last season, but in the end both have failed to reach their objectives. Tokyo Verdy have lost two key players in this winter, the keeper Sato and very talented midfielder Kenta Misao who was sold to Kashima Antlers. The capital side have brought in replacements for them, but I don't think are at the same level and the start of Verdy should be difficult. Misao can be replaced as experienced midfielder Yuji Funayama has arrived after two season in Thailand. He was a decent player for J2 in the past, but I don't know how he is after two season in Thailand. Two keepers were brought, Ota from Gifu and Ryota Suzuki from F-Marinos (he was only a back-up goalkeeper there). The Brazilian playmaker Bruno Coutinho was released and in his place came in another Brazilian, the forward Douglas Vieira. No much infos abuot him.

On the other hand Consadole Sapporo has a new name starting from this year, Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo. They have released a couple of players at the end of the last year, but they haven't lost any of their key players and they signed experienced centre-back Masukawa from J1 side Vissel Kobe + 3 players from Brazil, Jonathan Reis, Julinho and Diego Macedo. They should add some quality for Sapporo.

Consadole should deliver more this season because they have a good squad, a lot of quality and experienced in their team. Two players who worth a mention are the former Japanese internationals Junichi Inamoto and Shinji
