Crvena zvezda vs Anadolu Efes by Sharingham

Crvena-zvezda
VS
Anadolu-Efes
8 round of group E of Euroleague, Red Star hosts Turkish Anadolu Efes. This match will not be played in Belgrade since both halls where plays Red Star are occupied. Game will be played in Vrsac (Milenium Center) which is about 100 km away, but it is certain that it will not be a problem for fans. Milenium Center capacity is about 4500 i will for sure be full. Hall itself is quite similar to Pionir, where the host recorded the most wins, and all important (Real, Khimky, Lokomotiva, Bayern). Stands are very close to the field and domestic players in this atmosphere are providing great games this year.

This round comes after a weekend in which teams played domestic cup and both teams have played below expectations. Efes lost to Pinar Karsiyaka in first round, in a very tie match although they were favored. They played that game in last Wednesday, which gave them time to rest since that the season is really intense. Overall, Efes is not in the good shape. In the domestic championship they are ok, but in Euroleague the situation is not good! Guests have 3 wins and 4 losses and this game is probably the most important to them. Why? They won in first match with +1, and if they lose with +2 or more, there will be two wins less and bad mutual score with tonight's opponent who is their direct competitor for Top 8. This means that in the next 6 rounds they would need to chase Red Star with 2+1 more wins, or Panathinaikos with also 2 wins more and mutual score with +5 for Greece team (83:78 in last round). IMO, in that circumstances, chances to reach that are very low. So, they MUST win tonight. I am not a supporter of "conspiracy theories" but I have a lot of reason to believe that, if judges would be in a position to influence on the result in any way, they will prevail on guest side (as indeed was also the first match). Efes has a great rooster, with Saric, Heurtel, Osman, Granger, D.Brown... Overall, Efes had not a single game this season with control of entire match, there are ups and downs during the game. But somehow I have confidence in the experienced coach Ivkovic. Knowing him, I'm sure it is well studied all the qualities of the host.

Red Star played the worst match of the season last weekend. They lost in semifinal vs Partizan Cup match where they played awful during whole match. Except Tarence Kinsey, team looked like amateur. In first 3 quarters, they scored only 39 points?! Too many turnovers, missed shots, the game completely out of ideas. All of this in recent days mislaid the issue of coach support but the president stepped on his side and gave him full support. At least for now... Results in Euroleague are above expectations, but ABA league position and lost Cup led to the unsatisfactory of fans. First p-maker Jovic is still not ready for maximum effort but he is available. Except long term injured captain Mitrović, rest of squad is ready.

Host lost all games against Turkish clubs this season. First match vs Efes, they led by +12 9 mins before and and - lost! And this is not the first time this season.

Change of the court, shaken atmosphere in the Red Star team, realistically quality and much expensive Efes, are reasons to give a slight advantage in this match to guests. Fan speaking, I would like win of Red Star, but i have doubts... I think that after this game table in E group will be much complicate.

Away win, good luck.

@Beny: Didn't check that, thanks! @ DS I have "symphaties" for Red Star, but not a fan how do you think. Red Star is a favorite for sure tomorow, but... If you remember 2007, Red Star was twice better, played at home, had an approximate point difference as now and Partizan trashed them. I will bet on Zvezda, 2.40 is great, but for low stake. Pozdrav
