Arsenal vs Barcelona by Marinos

Arsenal hosts at the Emirates the Ch League holders Barcelona in the 1st leg for Champions League last-16.

Barcelona are the strong favourites to progress past Arsenal and become the first team to retain the European Cup in the Champions League era. (Last team to do so was Milan in 1989-1990 but back then it was the Cup Of Champions ,a different set up with double games )

Arsenal was about to receive an unexpected present as Luis Suarez arrived at Barcelona Airport yesterday only to later realize he had left his passport at home !!! .However, unfortunately for Arsenal, someone went back to the Uruguayan's home and fetched the passport in time so that he could make the flight to England with the rest of the Barcelona squad.

Arsenal this season is swimming in deep waters and they seem to be doing fine , so far they are 2nd in the Premier league along with Tottenham with 51 p chasing the big surprise Leicester who are 1st with 53 p and they have some good chances to get the title after 12 long years. They are also in the 5th round of the F A Cup(and the holders )and they will have to face Championship leaders Hull City once again since they had a 0-0 draw this past Saturday at home .

Right after the game against Barcelona they will travel to Old Trafford to face Man UTD for the 27th round of the Premier League.

Arsène Wenger stated for the game : ''We have to use every moment in the game where we have the chance to score, and as I said after the Hull game, we had 70 per cent of the time the ball but we didn’t make a lot of it. Against Barcelona we will have the ball far less and we will have to make more of it."

Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey and Petr Cech will return when Arsenal face Barcelona in the Champions League on Tuesday but Arsene Wenger is still missing five players.

Gabriel Paulista, Mikel Arteta, Jack Wilshere, Santi Cazorla and Tomas Rosicky will all miss the match,

"Everybody else is available", confirmed Wenger at his pre-match press conference.

*Arsenal has managed to score at least 1 goal in their past 13 Champions League games .

Barcelona are unbeaten in all competitions (32 matches,26-6-0) since losing 2-1 at Sevilla on 3 October 2015.

They have managed to turn La Liga this season to a race of one.

Luis Enrique, who guided Barcelona to victory in the Champions League in his first season in charge, brings his team to London top of La Liga by 8 points from At Madrid and 9 from R Madrid.

Their wicked trio Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar are the “most efficient” strike force in the world ,as they already scored 91 goals between them this season.

Barcelona will be missing 2 players, Rafinha injured and Arda Turan suspended for the first leg.

Barcelona knocked Arsenal out of the Champions League in 2010 and 2011 while also defeating them in Paris in the 2006 final, the closest the Arsenal has come to lifting the trophy.

In the past 5 games they met we saw both teams scoring and over 2.5 goals and in their last 7 meetings 27 were made , 3,86/game.

We should enjoy a nice game with many goals again as both are in great form,i think Barcelona will prevail .
