Other vs Other by Gilles

This bet is for match-up between Edvald Boasson Hagen versus Greg Van Avermaet in second stage of Tour of Oman. I predict Van Avermaet will finish before Boasson Hagen in end result of second stage. Becos Van Avermaet possible will get role of leader now for BMC, their current leader Richie Porte lost 3 mins today, which is much for such a short Tour. Also, Van Avermaet can win sprints, even steep sprints (remind win in TdF vs Sagan). Tomorrow group will be together at last climb, there is 130 kilometers between first and second climb so group will be back together I guess (not that it matter that much for bet). But acknowledge favorites will be together for sure. Last climb is 3 kilometers at 6,6% which is a bit longer then ideal for Van Avermaet but he should not come in problems becos its not a steep climb (6,6%). Boasson Hagen can climb also very good, remember work for Sky team in TdF, he is very talented but had bad year in 2015 and also can time trail (see recent victory in Qatar). Boasson Hagen will probably go for end ranking here in Oman, so he will save energy for big climb later this week, and I expect he will not go for victory here. Van Avermaet may go for victory here, becos BMC lost already some minutes with real leader Porte, so not much left to win here for BMC, and Van Avermaet has possibility to win second stage.

I think Van Avermaet will stay with favorites and get a free role in BMC becos Porte is too much behind, so he will not have to work for Porte (he probably had free role already =)). And near finish he will sprint for extra time/victory/second place. He is also top 3 favorite to win stage 2, while Boasson Hagen is only around place 7 or so.

So Van Avermaet will finish before Boasson Hagen in second stage of Tour of Oman is my bet. good luck!
