Almagro vs Tsonga by Bulan20

QF Buenos Aires between Almagro and Tsonga.

Almagro, #72, have made it to QF by beating Montanes and Delbonis. Think he has made it this far thanks to a easy draw but hasn´t convinced in his play. 6-3 6-3 vs Montanes is flattering for Almagro considering he had more trouble with Montanes the the result shows. He took out Delbonis after 3 sets. He was the clearly better player in thatt matchup and deserved the win but Delbonis sure is a decent player but overranked imo.

Tsonga have had a good start on 2016. In warm up for AO he beat both Fognini and Kohlschriber in straight before losing to B-Agut. He made it to 4th round in AO losing to Nishikori. Thought he would have a much harder time vs Mayer here in Argentina but he totally crushed him winning 6-1 6-2.

Almagro is a strong clay player and even though he isn´t as good as he was a couple of seasons back he is still a player to reckon with. He likes it here in BA making it to SF last year. Good movement and a strong forehand. With all this I still think that Tsonga is a level or two higher then the Spaniard. Tsonga is also strong at clay, he is a powerhouse in all his strokes. Have more to take from his serve from last match vs Mayer but in the rallies it was a clear difference between those two. Almagro hasn´t convinced me and I hold him as a worse player then Mayer, who also is strong on clay and played on home soil. History is history especially since last meet was in 2012 but Tsonga is 6-0 h2h. I think some bookies are a bit too high here and if Tsonga brings a standard level of play he should have a good chance taking this in straight. Tsonga -1,5 sets is the prediction. pin
