The home side have been the form team in the league of late and are climbing higher and higher up the League One table. The Latics (Wigan) are now joint second favourites with Walsall for promotion and for the league title. They currently sit in 3rd position, 1 point behind Walsall and 5 points behind leaders Burton Albion.
Wigan's form of late has been impressive, especially at home. They have only lost twice so far this season and are unbeaten so far this year. More recently they have won 3 of their last 4 home ties and scored 3 times in all 4 games! This run has helped them to 50 goals in 30 games so far.
Wigan have also bought well in the transfer market by signing Sam Morsy from Chesterfield. A player with plenty of League One experience. Top scorer Will Grigg and Max Power will offer a substantial goal threat for Wigan.
Oldham so far this season have really struggled and sit 2nd bottom, 6 points from safety! They have picked up only 1 win since November and seen 7 defeats since and are now amongst the favourites for relegation. Oldham are the lowest scorers in League One with just 27 from 27, however, their 40 goals conceded isn't so bad compared to some teams around them but they have still shipped 5 goals twice and 4 goals once this season.
They will, however, be buoyed by they fact they beat Shrewsbury away from home last time out. Certainly a little surprise but Shrewsbury are another side who are currently fighting to avoid relegation so not a huge scalp but a win nevertheless.
The away side didn't do much business in the transfer window so they will largely have to make do with what they have, which isn't a great deal. Anything but a Wigan Athletic win will be a surprise.
