Motherwell FC vs Hamilton
Both teams' situation surrounding this match is almost identical to the last Lanarkshire derby at Fir Park which was played in March 2015. Motherwell were towards the bottom of the table fearing relegation. Ian Baraclough came in to steady the situation and Motherwell had managed to pick up some points, especially on home soil. Whereas Hamilton, after a good start to the season, had hit a terrible run of defeats and were sliding down the league table.
Very similar indeed as Motherwell have recently replaced Ian Baraclough with Mark McGhee and are currently 4 unbeaten after a terrible start to the season with 3 wins in succession which includes an excellent 2-1 away win against Celtic, a 2-0 home win against St Johnstone and a 3-1 home win against Dundee. Hamilton on the other hand are currently on a 4 game losing streak which includes a poor 1-0 home defeat to relegation threatened Kilmarnock.
The only issue with Motherwell is they lost some firepower at the start of the season with Erwin and Sutton being sold, 2 of their best strikers. To replace these players they brought in Louis Moult who had a good couple of seasons scoring goals in the English Conference and has already scored 9 goals this season. He will be their main goal threat.
Hamilton's main goal threat is probably Dougie Imrie who has 5 goals from midfield. One thing Hamilton always seem to struggle with is a true goalscorer.
Interestingly, the last 4 Lanarkshire derbies have been won to nil by the home side and since 2005 only 3 of these matches have seen both teams score out of 19 derbies.
