Derby vs Bristol City by Hassy

After a somewhat sluggish start to the campaign, Derby will look to close in on the automatic promotion places with a win against lowly Bristol City. The Ram's home form is rock solid with nineteen points collected from a possible thirty so far. After their 2-2 draw with Brighton; which saw the hosts miss numerous chances to win the game the home side are now four games unbeaten and have only lost once in their last eight outings. They are the division's most inform side and will be relishing the visit of the newly promoted Bristol City. Derby are undefeated in the last seven league matches at home and have scored 14 goals in the process. Chris Martin is one of the division’s most influential strikers and he has netted 10 goals in all competitions.

Derby head coach Paul Clement is weighing up whether or not to make changes against Bristol City. He has a fully fit squad to choose from and with one of the best squads in the league they can choose to freshen things up should they wish. Scott Carson's back injury is likely to see him miss a third game but Clement has the likes of Jeff Hendrick, Chris Baird, Ryan Shotton, Johnny Russell and Darren Bent to call on should he opt to make changes.

Bristol City managed to end to a four-game winless streak with a 1-2 victory at Huddersfield Town on the weekend. The win sees the move three points outside the drop zone. The main problem for Bristol City is that they cant stop conceding goals. Defensively, they have one of the 3rd worst defensive record in the division with a total of 33 goals shipped in in only 20 games. City manager, Steve Cotterill will have centre-back Nathan Baker available again after he completed a one-match suspension, but his fellow defender Derrick Williams is striving to shrug off an injury.

Prior to Saturday's win Bristol City had gone seven away matches without a win on the road. They have only won two games on the road so far this season and Pride Park is not a place where points are gifted to teams. Derby have one of the meanest defences in the league, condeding only 13 goals so far this season and the problem for opposing teams is they can't get enough of the ball to create much against a very possession based Derby County. I expect Derby to win this game and do so in convincing style.
