Genoa vs Carpi by Hassy
Genoa host the Seria A whipping boys today when Carpi come to the studio Luigi Ferrari. Genoa themselves aren't really pulling up any trees this season and sit bang in mid-table in 13th positions. Despite not playing particularly well this season the hosts still find themselves ten points better off than Carpi already this season.
After going through a barren run until last week Genoa fans were fearing the worst. A four match winless run was finally ended with a decent 2-1 win over Sassuolo. Carpi, on the other hand are still on a terrible run of six matches without a win and have lost five and drawn once since their last win against Torino way back in the first week of October.
Despite Genoa being average so far this campaign their home form stands up to scrutiny and this is why I am confident in the tip. They've only lost once this season (to Juve), won four and drawn to Napoli, also title challengers. Three wins from four of their last home games also holds up positively. Carpi on the other hand have only picked up a single point from a possible eighteen on the road and judging by recent performances show no sign of improving. Carpi also boast the league's worst defensive record with a massive 26 goals conceded in just 13 matches.
Team news for Genoa sees their manager Gasperini sweating over the fitness of Oliver Ntcham for this game while defenders Giovanni Marchese and Ezequiel Munoz have been ruled out.
Carpi manager, Castori has defender Nicolas Spolli, midfielders Andrea Lazzari and Matteo Fedele, and centre forward Marco Borriello all ruled out on account of injuries.
Carpi are yet to win away from home and I can't see that changing against a side who rely on their home form to survive in the division. Carpi, do however score goals so I expect an open game, one which will suit the home side and I'll confidently go with a home win which sees Genoa maintaining their solid home form.
