Gillingham vs Rochdale by MagicRat

Gillingham will come into this game hurting after being overtaken at the top of the table by Coventry after suffering a heavy 4-1 defeat against the Sky Blues, whilst Rochdale, coming off an away win at Doncaster, will be looking to close the gap to the play-offs.

Both of these teams have had a number of games over 3.5 goals this season with seven of Gillingham's 18 matches going over 3.5 goals and five of Rochdale's 18 also doing so. Four of Gillingham's seven have come in home matches and three of Rochdale's five have come in away matches.

Gillingham's last three matches have gone over 3.5 goals with two of them seeing five goals and in seven of their nine home matches they have scored two or more goals and, in fact, four of those saw them score three or more goals. Furthermore, they have scored in every home match this season. They have also conceded in six of their nine home matches with their three clean sheets coming in their first three home matches, so they have conceded in each of their last six home matches and they haven't kept a clean sheet, home or away, since the start of September.

Rochdale, struggled for goals a few weeks ago with three goalless draws in a row but since then they have played two away matches and they have scored two goals in both of them. They have scored in six of the nine away matches and four of those six matches resulted in them scoring two goals. To add to this they have conceded two or more goals in three of their last five away matches.

Given all of this I think this could be a high scoring game and I like odds of 3.60 for over 3.5 goals, especially considering the average odds for over 3.5 goals is
