Millwall vs Colchester by Arneytips

Millwall Team News- Carlos Edwards is doubtful as he recovers from a hamstring injury. Tony Craig and Jimmy Abdou are both out injured.

Colchester Team News- Former Lions loanee Owen Garvin is not match fit and will not start. Richard Brindley has returned to training and is available for selection.

After a bad start to the season which saw them spend the beginning near the bottom of the table, Millwall have turned things around of late and Neil Harris's team have gone on an impressive run of form only losing once in their last 8 league games winning 4. That run has seen them climb to 9th place in League 1 on 25 points. They struggled at home at the start of the season and didn't pick up their first win at The Den until the end of September when they beat Rochdale. With that win they have now been unbeaten in their last 4 home league games winning 3 and seem to be getting better and better. Part of this change in fortunes in their home form has been down to their defence who have been looking a lot more solid and this has shown in them keeping clean sheets in their last 3 games at The Den.

In contrast Colchester have been in poor form, only winning once in their last 6 league games losing 4. They also have one of the worse away records in the league losing their last 3 games on the road. This has been mainly down to their defensive record where they have conceded 23 goals on their travels- an average of nearly 3 goals per game. Colchester will need to buck this trend if they are to have any chance against Millwall who have been strong at home of late. Tony Humes knows that he has a tough game on his hands today. It is not impossible for the U's as they have beaten Sheffield United away this season, but their only other away came against an out of form Swindon.

With 6 of the top 8 sides in League 1 playing each other today, this will be a great opportunity for Millwall to climb up the table and narrow the 9 point gap on the automatic promotion places. Their fans have been really getting behind the team of late with Neil Harris saying that there is a real feel-good factor at The Den and this has filtered down to the players who are playing with enjoyment and determination. With Millwalls defence and the fact that Colchester have conceded at least 2 goals in 7 of their 8 away games this season, I can see this being a comfortable win for the lions today.
