Lokomotiv Yaroslavl comes from a 7-4 win over Yekaterinburg on Thursday, in a thrilling game, in which the hosts came back from a three-goal deficit in the 11th minute.
It seems that the hosts have overcome their problems and after five consecutive losses between Oct. 25 and Nov. 15, they won their last two games against Ufa (4-2/away) and Yekaterinburg (7-4).
Lokomotiv is actually the team with the second-best defense in the league, as the hosts conceded a total of 51 goals in the previous thirty three rounds (1.55 per game) and one or fewer goals in ten of their fifteen games at Arena 2000 in this period.Thirteen of those fifteen encounters were won, twelve of them with two or more goals difference (12-1-1-1 45/17).
The guests have chances to finish the regular season at top 8 in the Eastern Conference for the first time since 2012, which would be a considerable achievement, given the fact that Yugra is among the teams with the lowest budgets in KHL.
The guests won their first three games in November against Niznekamsk (2-1/home), Chelyabinsk (3-1/home) and Dinamo Riga (2-1/home), but lost the last two against Jokerit (4-2/home) and Sochi (1-5/away) and were outshot 71-48 in those two outings.
There is actually one more reason for my bet: the guests have obvious problems away from home this season, having recorded only four wins and twelve losses in sixteen visits (3-1-0-12 25/62).
Ten of those sixteen away games were lost by two or more goals difference, including the last three against Dinamo Riga (1-7), Jokerit (1-6) and Sochi (1-5).
I think that Lokomotiv Yaroslavl will win that game with at least two goals difference.
