Leiston vs East Thurrock by Hassy

Ryman Premier league leaders Leiston host another midweek game which sees the visitors East Thurrock travel the 200 mile round trip to play the game. Straight away this plays into our hands as all players will have work commitments which means the visitors will struggle to field their best team.

However, turning to football and putting off the field advantages to one side we have the league leaders who have won six and lost one game at home. They have won all their midweek games as well.

Leiston have won there last three home games 2-0, 2-0 and 3-1 and prior to their only home defeat they won there other home game against Hendon 2-0.

They also boast the best home defence in the league and have scored over 2 goals in every home game this season.

Visitors East Thurrock are finding life difficult. They sit a place outside the drop zone in the Ryman League and have won one game in their last 5. Bizarrely their only win was a 4-0 win against Leiston; a game played midweek which proves my first point in this preview.

Away from home Thurrock have a 2-2-2 record and have conceded two goals per game. On Saturday they lost 3-6 to Staines in the huge FA Cup game which will have left the club extremely disappointed.

A long midweek trip against a side that are sitting healthy at the top of the table. This is a big opportunity for Leiston to confirm their place at the top and they could go 5 points clear with a game in hand. I don't expect them to pass up the opportunity.

I'm tempted to play O 2.5 goals in this game. What do you think? East Thurrock have a very poor defense and they do score too. And based on the advantages you have stated above that the home team has, I do believe there will be 3 or more goals in this match. And Leiston may likely want to put behind the humiliating 4-0 loss to East Thurrock last time out.

History is repeating itself. It is just not Leiston's day. Bad luck I guess!
