Goffin vs Isner by Bulan20
I think that Goffin´s strenth is when he gets to dictate in rallies with his great groundstrokes from the baseline. He had no trouble against Soeda in R.1 but Soeda had no weapons to threat Goffin in the rallies. He is 35/21 during the year and 13/9 on HC.
Isner only needed 46 minutes to beat Mannarino in R.1. He made 86% of his 1st serves and won 83% of those. He had 20 aces and only gave away one breakchance. Isner wont make it to London but in this high-level tournament I don´t see lack of motivation to be a factor. He is doing great on HC with 25/9 record.
This prediction is dependant on Isner serving well. He is vounerable in the rallies, especially against a player of Goffin´s level. The fast surface here in China benefits this short agressive points which I imagine Isner to play. Goffin is a decent returner but Isner have a good forehand to follow up with so he should be able to keep the points short. Isner had 8 breakchances against Mannarino and even though Goffin is at a higher level I hope that Isner can get a couple of chances in this one as well. Isner is only 3/9 last tiebreaks and two of the losses was against Federer and two against Chardy. If the big guy can keep up the same level of serving as in R.1 I think he has a solid chance in this one.
