Hungary vs Faroe Islands by Hassy

In a group where goals are as rare as a salad in Mcdonalds I will back Hungary to not only win here but to also keep a shut out at the other end. Hungary are still very much in with a chance of qualification, while the Islanders are only fighting for pride. Hungary have been short on form of late, with a 0-0 draw against Finland and a 1-1 tie with Northern Ireland leaving them in 3rd in the group, and with only an outside chance of qualification. In essence, they have to win this week, and will be calling on Szalai and Zoltan Stieber to get their third goals of the campaign.

The Hungarians still have a good chance to qualify in the top two places but if this does not happen they are ranked as the best third placed team which sees them qualify automatically as well.

As for the Faroe Islands, a strong start to life in Group F saw them beat Greece twice with a set of historic results; however life of late has proved tough, with the minnows losing their last two games to Northern Ireland and Finland respectively. Faroe is clearly on an uptrend and they are not easy to beat anymore, posting a remarkable defense – but outside those two matches against Greece, the Islanders have zero points and only two goals scored. (in 6 matches).

It’s crunch time for Hungary, and providing they don’t crack under the pressure they should breeze past the Faroe’s this week. I expect to see a patient and intelligent Hungary who should keep a clean sheet against the minnows. Due to the low scoring of all the teams within this group a handicap bet seems dangerous, but a tip on Hungary to win to nil makes a lot of sense as far as I`m concerned.
