Scotland vs Poland by Rahul

Poland and Scotland clash in the critical encounter that will determine the fate of both these teams for their qualification for Euro 2016. While mathematically, there is a chance that Scotland and still qualify, realistically they don't have no much chance to go through.

Poland will feel buoyed from their results in this group, and are sitting in 2nd spot with just 2 points behind Germany and will know that a victory tonight will almost guarantee them a spot in the finals for next year. Poland have been a good team this campaign scoring 29 goals and performances have been good as was seen when they opened up their campaign with a 2-0 win over Germany last year. Since then they have struggled to put up good results against their fellow rivals in the campaign with them drawing 1-1 with Republic of Ireland and drawing 2-2 with Scotland.

From the 29 goals netted by Poland a lot of credit must go to hit-man Robert Lewandowski who has netted 10 out of those in this campaign so far. While only one of those goals came against a big side, i.e, Germany; he will be looking to add to his tally in these last 2 games against Scotland & Ireland. The goal sparked some great form for the Polish hit-man, and has shown to be oozing class with 15 goals in all competitions since then. He even netted 7 goal against Dortmund and Wolfsburg alone who are among the top teams in Germany to showcase that if he gets the service, he is not to be messed around with.

Scotland's biggest problem has been their defence. They had conceded 10 goals in the 8 games so far, that has seen them slip up from winning positions to lose or draw games. Last month they had a qualifying week to forget when they got upset 1-0 by Georgia and then shipped 3 goals in a narrow 2-3 loss to Germany. The fact that the Scottish even conceded against Gibraltar, does not bode confidence that they will continue to keep clean sheets heading into this critical game against Poland. Their defence is made up of players who are not playing for the top teams in Europe with Hanley, Martin, Mulgrew and Hutton as the back 4 with Marshall in goal. All of them have had a poor club form coming behind them as their teams have been shipping a lot of goals, and I expect them to continue to struggle again.

Lewandowski's form is absolutely impossible to ignore, and with odds of 2.50 for him to score, it surely represents tremendous value in this Euro 2016 qualifying match.
