Lietkabelis vs Lietuvos Rytas by Marci
Today we have 2nd round of Lithuanian LKL League , a match betwwen last Lietkabelis who lost first game by 19 from team which finished last season as 9th - Vytautas, while Lietuvos Rytas is 3rd with home win against Dzukija by 12 ( They finished 6th last season).
Lietkabelis finished as 8th last season and after 3 years of absence they reached quarterfinals where they lost with 3-0 from chamipons Zalgiris.Rytas on other hand finished League 2nd only one point behind zalgiris and that was decided in overtime of last round and later they reached the finals where they were destroyed with 4-0 against same team.
Lietkabelis did some changes to their team, they brought in from 2nd Lithuanian divison playmaker Jermaine Love and Michigan State point guard from Hungary Brandon Wood, Latvian guard from Ventspils Akselis Vairogs, Power Forward from 4th last season Neptunas - Valdas Vasyllus and they loaned Arthuras Valeika from their today opponents and will play as starting center today what really is telling us everything about difference between these two teams.
Lietuvos Rytas will have to play in Euro CUp once more this season and some foreigners wasnt too happy with it so all americans left Travis Leslie (Bayreuth), Billy Baron (Charleoi), Moser (Hapoel) and they lost Jasaitis (Orlandina basket), their replacemnts have mostly been from other teams in the league - they brought in one of Neptunas best player who had solid season in Euroleague Deividas Gailius (replacement for jasaitis), Lithuanian big man and incredible talent Arthuras Gudaitis was brought from Zalgiris and will be important piece for title challenge (he was drafted by Philadelphia), then they brought in from Siaullai another very taleented guy who will be back up for Gaillus - Rokas Giedraitis and his teammate Julius Jucikas. Last signings ware member of Argentina national team who played for Brasilian Flamengo Nicolas Laprivatoola who will play as starting playmaker and Romanian national team member Marius Runkauskas from ASESOFT who will be playing as SG.
Both teams did make some changes and seems on paper stronger then previous season but with bad start of Lietkabelis i am sure that they will lose with same or even bigger difference from such a strong team as Rytas and if we look at last home games of Lietkabelis against Rytas we can see tha pattern (from 2012 to 2015) - +28, +48, +30, +28, +22, +30; so as you can see Rytas is destroying them from season to season and in only one game they scored 77 points, all rest were 97,98,101,114 what talks a lot about Lietkabelis inability to find defensive solution for versatile attack of 5 time Lithuanian champions.
