Everton vs Liverpool by Marcelino

Merseyside derby this weekend.

Everton have had a good season so far currently in 5th place despite having tough fixtures to begin the season with. They only lost once at home to Man City, in a game they weren't dominated. They managed wins home to Chelsea and away to West brom and southampton.

Liverpool are in a bit of a crisis. They are in 9th place and managed 3 wins as well but their wins were a late wonder goal vs Stoke, and home wins by 1 goal vs relegation contenders Aston Villa and Bournemouth. To add to their problems, Benteke is injured.

I would give Everton the edge in this game. They got more points in more difficult fixtures so far while Liverpool beat poor sides and are missing Lukaku. However, the bet I will take for this is over 2.5 goals. There have been many goals in the league lately, with 9 of 10 games last week ending with more than 2 goals. Both teams are coming into this games from 3-2 goal fest wins. Both teams have goal scorers in form. Liverpool have Sturridge back and he scored 2 goals in their last game. Coutinho, Milner and Ings also scored this sseason and could get another one in this game. Everton have Lukaku in great form, scoring 4 this season. They also have Naismith who scored a hat trick vs CHelsea. Kone has also been in good form and scored 2 this season as well as Barkley who played well and scored 2 and assissted 3. Additionally, Liverpool's keeper Mignolet has been inconsistent this season and Everton have injuried in defense with Hibbert and Baines injured and Coleman and Stones doubtful. Liverpool have defender Lovren injured. So my prediction is many goals, with Everton likelier to get more of them
