Burgess Hill Town vs Lewes by Hassy
Wednesday night see’s the Hillians take on Sussex rivals Lewes in the Ryman Premier Division. Despite meeting many times in Cup competitions this will be the first league meeting between the sides. Burgess Hill have a decent home record and come into the match off the back of a superb win against Dulwich Hamlet. In their five games at home they have won three and lost two. The first to the divisions title favourites in Grays, the second to Harrow who currently sit top of the away form in the league. However, that said, since then they have won their last two home games and have scored six in doing so so they are in decent form.
Lewes suffered a humiliating home defeat at the hands of Ryman Premier League new boys Brentwood Town. They lost the home game 1-5 which means they are still without a win on their own turf. In the ten league games they have played this season they have one win against Hampton which they won 0-4 but only after the referee awarded them a penalty and sent the Hampton defender off. They have six defeats in the ten games.
From their five away games this season they have four points and have conceded eleven goals. Prior to their single, surprise win they had lost 3-0, 3-1 and 5-1 so they are low on confidence and belief.
Lewes are currently 21st in the division and have ten points less than tonight's opponents. They are one of the worst sides in the division and every point they get away from home is a surprise. Despite Burgess Hill not being title contenders, a win tonight sees them go a point off the play-off positions. I cant see them missing out on this chance and tip them to record a comfortable home win.
