Castroviejo vs Jan Barta by AlQahira

Today, from 19:00 CET (13:00 local time) the Men's time trial at the 2015 UCI Road World Championships will take place. For the victory most likely the battle will be fought between Tony Martin, Rohan Dennis and Tom Dumoulin, and I incline to pick Dennis as the winner. But that's a very tough call so I'll settle for a matchup between the spaniard Jonathan Castroviejo and the czech Jan Barta. Both are specialists in TTs and have enjoyed a fair amount of succes at the worlds in past seasons finishing a few times each in the top 15 with Barta being the one that has won this matchup at the previous 3 editions of the WC. But, this time it's quite clear that the spaniard holds the upper hand going into today's race. This is why:

Castroviejo, 2 times national champion has proven in the last months that he's stronger than ever at the time trials and he has provoked quite a shock by beating Tony Martin in the last time trial of both of them in the Tour of Poitou Charentes when Castroviejo finished second after his team mate Malori. He has been very strong all year in TTs: fourth place in Tirreno-Adriatico, seventh in Tour de Romandie, sixth in the TdF.

One small hiccup in his preparation for the Worlds is represented by the crash he suffered in the GP Quebec so he missed a couple of days of training but he seemed in top condition in the team time trial on sunday where he was one of the strongest engines of Movistar on their way to an remarkable 3rd place.

Barta has been in poor condition in TTs all year but he excels in this kind of long time trials so he shouldn't be written off even after his subpar season. Still, Castroviejo has been on fire in 2015 and this is his big chance for a top 5 at the worlds so the logical bet here is Castroviejo without a doubt.
