Simona Halep and Viktoria Azarenka will meet tonight in the most interesting quarterfinal from the US Open, womens singles. Halep has looked at ease on the american hardcourt, she has played close to her best level and eventhough he had some niggles here and there, overall her game has been very solid. Against Lisicki she had to battle with the weather conditions and some pains in her right thigh, still she managed to win against a difficult opponent. Azarenka on the other hand had been solid until now but she had some medical problems in the last weeks in her left thigh as well. I think the odds are quite distorted by the impression Halep left in her match against Lisicki. That was a poor game from Halep and Lisicki as well but the romanian player had the aforementioned problems, and her retiring from mixed doubles afterwards was a precautionary measure more than anything. Simona said in the post match press conference that she feels confident that at the start of the Azarenka match she will be 100% OK. I insisted more on Halep because the odds have been distorted by the impression that she is injured and by the H2H record. Still those two victories of Azarenka were registered before Halep started her rise and changed her game to have a more offensive approach. Azarenka without a doubt is a formidable adversary, maybe she is slightly the favorite here, but 2,99 for Halep today?? that's preposterous.
