Sweden vs Austria by Bulan20

Sweden
VS
Austria
Game 8 in group G between Sweden and Austria.

Sweden lost against Russia on Friday 1-0 and are most likely forced to get wins in the remaining games, with Russia having the easier upcoming schedule. Both teams had goals that was denied and chances for goals. Russia had most of the pressure in 1st half but after the goal Sweden took over and was close to equalize in overtime. Are still having some obvious trouble in the defense, especially with the central defenders.

Austria won 1-0 against Moldova. Austira was dominating, 62% of possession and 23 scoring chances (Moldova had 2) but could only get one goal in that game. Koller said after the game that they didn´t put enough pressure on Moldova and that Moldova played some solid defence. Austria is pretty much secure at the 1st spot with 19p and only need 1p in the last 3 games.

Haven´t dropped starting line-ups yet but I don´t think we will see that big of a change in the Austrian team. Sweden will most likely switch to a more offensive line-up with 2 attackers. Big problem in Ibrahimovic. Injured and big questionmark if he will be able to play. If so it will most likely be Berg and Toivonen at top. Wing players and especially Forsberg look good in the Russia-game but too often there wasn´t enough player in the box.

Austria have a bit of a grudge against Sweden, after Sweden winning and removing the chances for Austria to qualify to WC in Brazil back in 2013. So even if Austria is pretty much secure on their #1 spot I don´t see them handing over a win to Sweden. Think we will see a pretty open game with the teams trading chances. Sweden is lacking in offensive quality if Ibra is out and there is always a lack on confidence in the defensive line regardless which players starts. Hope Sweden take this one, but against a overall better Austrian team I think the X2 is the best bet here. pin
