Turkey vs Latvia by Hassy

Turkey have been one of the harder nations to predict in this qualifying campaign so far so much so that they are on the verge of elimination. For some reason, despite all the talent within the ranks they continue to let the nation down but recent results show a slight upturn in form. Turkey sit fourth in the table, out of contention for qualification, and seven points behind group leaders Iceland. Their next game against Latvia then, is a crucial one. An excellent result in Amsterdam (1-1) kept the faint qualification hopes alive and a recent 4-0 win against Bulgaria is a confidence boost.

The Turks will be looking to Arda Turan of Barcelona and Burak Yilmaz to provide the inspiration needed to grab the win.

Latvia are currently 5th in the group and have scored only two goals in their 6 group games. One of these was a penalty at home to Turkey but the fact they have played Kazakistan twice and failed to score suggests that they have some serious striking deficiencies.

Turkey should win this convincingly and add another important three points to their qualifying total. Throughout their struggles, Turkey have remained a strong defensive team conceding just eight goals in six games. We'll back them to prevent Latvia from scoring and we'll gamble on them getting the three points too.
