Giustino vs Dutra Silva
R2 Qualifiers to the ATP tournament Prague II (clay) between L. Giustino and R. Dutra-Silva.
L.Giustino, 23 years old, Italian, ranked #384. He plays his season on the Challenger tour where he often makes it through the qualifiers and have made it to later stages a couple of times during the season. Like a lot of low-ranked player he seems to prefer playing in his homecountry. Latest results I can find on Giustino comes from the challenger in Italy about a month ago. There he made it through qualifiers by beating guys ranked 1147 and 480. He lost in the R.16 against a fellow countryman #391 after beating another Italian in R.32 #242. Haven´t seen this guy play so can´t say anything about his playstyle but based on his recent stats he hasn´t won or threatend anyone worth mentioning.
This prediction is primarily based on his opponent, R. Dutra-Silva from Brazil. 31 y, ranked #299, Dutra-Silva is a veteran on the tour and reached as high as #84 couple of years back. Mainly works on the challenger-tour and occasionally qualifies to ATP 250 tournaments. Solid overall player with his forehand as his greatest weapon. Getting older but from what I saw in Båstad (ATP 250 Sweden) he still has some speed in his movement. In good form I would say: in Båstad ~2w ago he reached R32, losing 2-1 against Delbonis (#69). He qualified there by beating a local player #879, M.Zverev (#346) and S.Robert (#387). Both last player being better then there ranking in my opinion. Last week he qualified to the ATP 250 in Austria. He made it through a tough qualifiers beating N.Gombos (#126), P.Brunner (#470) and finally C.Berloq (#76). In the main tournament he lost in first round against 7-5 6-2 against S.Giraldo (#67).
Both of these players prefer the clay, qualifiers can sometimes be a bit tricky to bet on with low-ranks beating high-ranks but in my opinion the value lies on Dutra-Silva. He has the experience, more often playing against some of the top clay players, and with the above mentioned results it seems that he is in great form. Not knowing anything about Giustino makes this a bit more risky but based on his results I´m not that impressed.
I´m going with R. Dutra-Silva to win.
