Lille vs PSG by Joshboy
Psg won their second Ligue 1 title on the trot last season. They also won both cups in what was a fantastic domestic campaign. This season they will be looking to have a repeat of that as well as challenging for the champions league. In this competition last season they made it to the quarter finals where they were knocked out to eventual winners Barcelona. They definitely certified themselves as a top European team last year. The Parisians are in great form, after finishing last season winning their last 9 league games they had a great pre season where they beat the likes of Man Utd, fiorentina and benfica which all lead to a 2-0 win over Lyon in the French super cup last week. This added another trophy to their cabinet but it did come at a price as star player Zlatan Ibrahimovic picked up an injury and will sit this game out. Psg signed Benjamin Stambouli and goalkeeper kevin Trapp in the summer and have just signed Angel Di Maria but this match will probably come too early for him to make his debut. Apart from Zlatan psg have a fully fit squad although lavezzi and pastore's fitness may not be the highest after a late return after their appearances in the copa America.
Lille had an average year last season after finishing eighth. They will look to improve on this and try to get back in the European places. Lille have appointed a new manager this summer with Herve Renard taking over the helm. He has been busy since taking over, selling and buying a number of players. They have brought in 8 new players one of which is talented midfielder Mounir Obbadi. Lille have sold 12 players and some of their best players. Simon Kjaer, Adama Traore, Nolan Roux were all sold and Divock Origi and Marco Lopes finished their loan spells and returned to their parent clubs. These will be big misses for Lille this season, especially at the beginning of the season as the team looks to settle. Lille had 6 pre season friendlies and they won 3 of these and drew 2. They did suffer a big defeat to Lokeren 4-1 however. Lille have Beria, Soumaoro and Sunzu all missing for this match.
I think psg take this. They really have turned into a dominant force in French football and seem to be improving year after year in the champions league. Lille are really just an average team in France and although they had a good home record last season I think psg will be too much here. They have much better players and they have a lot of the same players they had last year so It won't take long to settle into the season. The form and confidence they carry into this match will be a factor as well against a team that I think will have a lot of gelling to do after such a big shake up in players and management.
